As with any Star Wars movie that wasn’t part of the original trilogy, fan opinion can be a little fiery. A fan’s bold claim that Adam Driver is the best actor in the entire “genre” (is Star Wars a genre in its own right?) has left many wondering how they feel about it.
Driver is a phenomenal actor who can transcend almost anything he does, whether it’s a romantic comedy with Daniel Radcliffe, a divorce from Scarlett Johansson, drama, or, in this case, a troubled Force-wielding Dark Jedi. However, the latest Star Wars trilogy isn’t as popular as the original, and despite its best efforts, even a two-time Oscar nominee isn’t enough to really entice people to watch the movie.
For die-hard fans of the trio of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, not to mention the other superstars who have graced the Star Wars universe, claiming that Driver is the best in the franchise. A good actor is sure to piss someone off.
Quite a few people have pointed out that OP is using the word “genre” incorrectly, and if we’re talking science fiction, it’s hard to say Driver is the best.
Despite a lot of hatred for the sequel, some consider Driver’s Kylo Ren to be the best part.
The Star Wars franchise is vast, and during that era, some great actors played amazing roles.
The user listed all the other actors involved, but left out one very important one, we mean Carrie Fisher.
While OP may have gone too far this time around, there is no doubt that Driver is a phenomenal actor and his performance is superb. You can see him next in the dark comedy White Noise, which recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival and will be released in limited theaters on November 25th and on Netflix on December 30th.
